LEARN WITH INVESTOGAINER-----> The F&O Greeks Masterclass!
Options trading can look simple: Buy CE → Market Goes Up → Profit Buy PE → Market Goes Down → Profit But the reality is much more complicated. An option's price does not depend only on whether Nifty or a stock goes up or down. This is where F&O Greeks become important. ##What Are Option Greeks? Option Greeks measure how sensitive an option's price is to different factors. The five most important Greeks are: Delta | Gamma | Theta | Vega | Rho Think of them as the dashboard of an option trade. @@1. DELTA — How Much Will the Option Move? Delta tells you approximately how much an option's premium may change when the underlying price moves by ₹1. Example: Suppose a CE has: Delta = 0.50 If the stock rises by ₹10, the option premium may theoretically rise by around: ₹10 × 0.50 = ₹5 For a PE, Delta is normally negative. Simple Meaning: Delta = Directional sensitivity @@2. GAMMA — How Quickly Does Delta Change? Gamma tells you how much the option's Delta changes when the underlying moves. This becomes especially important for near-the-money options. @@3. THETA — The Silent Option Killer Theta measures the effect of time decay on an option. Unlike stocks, options have an expiry date. Every passing day can reduce the value of an option, particularly when it is close to expiry. @@4. VEGA — The Volatility Greek Vega measures how sensitive an option is to changes in Implied Volatility (IV). Suppose an option has: Vega = ₹3 If IV rises by 1 percentage point, the option premium may increase by approximately ₹3, all else equal. @@5. RHO — The Interest Rate Greek Rho measures an option's sensitivity to changes in interest rates. ##Why Greeks Matter Delta → Nifty movement Gamma → Delta changes Theta → Time is passing Vega → IV is changing Rho → Interest rates may affect valuation ##Bottom Line Don’t Enter F&O Just Because You Can Predict the Market Direction.
