Anchoring!

Anchoring is the tendency to attach or anchor our thoughts to particular reference points. If you are afraid to average up or down, it could be because you are anchoring your buying decision to the price you paid for the stock. Or, to the benchmark or price of a rival company. Or historic price/earnings multiples. Or even conservative assumptions despite the company performing exceedingly well. This will prevent you from reacting objectively to fresh information.
