Finding a trustworthy advisor!
It is a task finding a trustworthy investment advisor. Despite the merits of keeping investments simple & boring, there is always an itch to invest in complex & difficult to understand instruments for higher returns. When investments and portfolio allocations seek to maximize returns, there are chances of conflicts between your goals and the advisor’s goal setting, which cannot be ignored. Advisors are now of two types; SEBI registered & others. It is not easy for investors to assess trustworthiness with or without the license. So, the onus is on you to select the right advisor. However, SEBI regulations does compel registered advisors to do their fiduciary duty diligently. Your objective should be to ensure your advisor delivers the right investment plan and, in the process, if he charges a reasonable fee that should be acceptable.
