Flexi cap is better than?

If an investor wants exposure to large cap & mid cap funds then he/she has option of separate large cap and mid cap funds where the fund manager has to invest minimum 35% in large cap & mid cap stocks. The investor also has option of multi cap fund where minimum exposure is 25% each in in large, mid, and small cap stocks. The above restrictions on investment exposure may work well at times, but it can also backfire. So, flexi cap funds are better than these two categories given the freedom it has in this space.
