Market has become advanced for retail traders!

The market has and will become more advanced because of technology (algos) & higher compliance levels. As a result, more players/traders will come in. Many FIIs have already set up shop and more will come in. But the returns seen in the past will be hard to come by. Trading turnover in options will rise but at the same time returns will shrink. There are some retail investors who do their research and then trade in options. But they are too few. Also, using algos may not necessarily be the answer. For many, the stock market is as much about the adrenalin rush as it is about the money. I think they would be better off investing in stocks for the long term.
