LUPIN Secures US Nod, Expands Seizure Drug Portfolio in $135 Million Market
LUPIN has received USFDA approval for its Brivaracetam Oral Solution (10 mg/mL), a generic version of UCB Inc.’s Briviact, used to treat partial-onset seizures, and has already initiated its launch in the US market. The approved drug addresses a segment with estimated annual sales of around $135 million in the US, strengthening Lupin’s neurology portfolio and US generics pipeline. The stock reacted positively, trading higher alongside strength in the pharma index. In my view, this approval is strategically positive as it enhances Lupin’s US presence and revenue visibility, though the overall financial impact will depend on competition intensity and pricing dynamics in the generics space.
