TCS Embraces AI Disruption Short-Term Pain, Long-Term Gain Strategy
TCS has openly encouraged employees to leverage AI tools to deliver services faster and at lower costs, even if it temporarily cannibalises revenue, signaling a proactive shift in strategy amid rising investor concerns over AI disrupting the traditional labour-intensive IT model. CEO K Krithivasan emphasized that the company views AI as an opportunity rather than a threat, despite the Indian IT sector witnessing nearly $68.6 billion in market value erosion in February. In my view, this is a strategically mature stance — accepting short-term revenue pressure to stay competitive and relevant — and companies that adapt early to AI-driven efficiency are more likely to protect long-term margins and client relationships.
