dra Limited (TECHM) rallied 4.75% on October 16, after reporting a 32.74% year-on-year jump in Q2 FY27 consolidated net profit to ₹1,585.6 crore and announcing a 1:1 bonus issue. The results were released on Thursday, October 15.
Revenue from operations grew 15.6% to ₹16,180.2 crore. EBIT rose 40.5% to ₹2,387 crore, with the EBIT margin at 14.8%. Deal wins for the quarter reached $1.023 billion. The board also declared an interim dividend of ₹15 per share, with an October 23 record date.
The quarter shows real operating progress. The company credited strong volume growth and cost savings for the jump in operating profit. This is also Tech Mahindra's first bonus issue in 11 years, since March 2015, timed with its 40th anniversary. The bonus shares are expected to be credited by December 15, subject to shareholder approval.
Two points need context. Rupee depreciation also boosted operating profit, and that support can reverse if the currency strengthens. The bonus issue itself adds no value. It doubles the share count and halves the price, but each shareholder's stake stays the same. The market is rewarding the earnings beat and margin gain, not the bonus.
Investors should watch EBIT margin progress in the coming quarters, conversion of $1.023 billion in deal wins into revenue, constant currency growth, and the bonus record date. The key question is whether Tech Mahindra can keep expanding margins once currency tailwinds fade.
