After Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled a number of GST reform measures and rationalized the rates on September 3, billionaire businessman Anand Mahindra responded. The chairperson of Mahindra and Mahindra claims that these measures will increase "consumption and investment," giving the Indian economy the much-needed boost it needs at a time when the US has put 50% tariffs on the country. Consumption tax rates were lowered considerably, and many goods were transferred from higher slabs to the 5% or 18% slabs. Additionally, several items were placed under the zero percent GST system.
