NSE to cut lot sizes for key index derivatives from January 2026

BSE
According to an October exchange circular, the National Stock Exchange will lower market lot sizes for a number of significant index derivatives starting with the January 2026 expiry cycle in an effort to maintain contract prices within the ₹10–15 lakh range set by the markets regulator. The Nifty 50 index lot size would be reduced from 75 to 65, Nifty Bank to 30 from 35, Nifty Financial Services to 60 from 65, and Nifty Midcap Select to 120 from 140. The Nifty Next 50 lot size will not change, according to NSE. The current lot sizes will continue to apply to all weekly and monthly contracts until the December 2025 expiration date, when the adjustments will take effect.
