Swiggy intends to contest the ₹158 crore tax claim.
Swiggy Ltd., a major online food delivery service, has been hit with an income tax order for ₹158.25 crore for the 2021–2022 assessment year.
The Central Circle-1(1) Deputy Commissioner of Income-tax in Bangalore issued the order, which claims inconsistencies in cancellation fees paid to merchants and interest income on tax refunds.
According to Swiggy's regulatory filing with the BSE and NSE, the company vehemently disagrees with the assessment and plans to contest the order in court. The business insists it has a "strong case on merits" and is doing everything it can to safeguard its interests.
