The ₹36-cr tax demand for Zydus Lifesciences has been canceled, but the ₹4-cr liability remains.

On Thursday, September 25, Zydus Lifesciences Limited announced that the central goods and services tax (CGST) officials had completed their investigation into tax demands totaling ₹39.25 crore. Demands totaling ₹35.90 crore were withdrawn, but a debt of ₹3.35 crore, plus interest and penalties, was verified. The central excise and service tax authorities had already issued the company many show-cause notifications for allegedly improperly utilizing the CENVAT credit on input services from March 2008 to June 2017.
