With GST pass-through and additional Diwali reductions on all models, Maruti lowers car costs.
In India's largest indirect tax adjustments since the Goods and Services Tax was originally implemented on July 1, 2017, the government lowered the GST rates on hundreds of goods, ranging from soaps to compact vehicles, on September 4, 2025.
This resulted from the rationalization of the GST, which reduced the number of tax slabs from four (5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%) to two (5% and 18%). While discretionary goods are subject to 18% GST, almost all necessities are in the 5% tax level. Additionally, a new 40% slab has been implemented for luxury items and tobacco products. MARUTI
