2 Lakh Crore Metal Sell-Off: Sharp Correction Hits Vedanta, Hindustan Zinc, NALCO & Hindalco

On heightened volatility, Indian metal stocks have seen a brutal correction with the Nifty Metal index tumbling more than 5 %, wiping out nearly ₹2 lakh crore in market value over just two trading sessions as global commodity prices, especially silver and gold, plunged sharply and profit-taking intensified. In the latest trade,

HINDZINC
shares slid around 10-13 %,
VEDL
fell about 10 %, !NALCO dropped roughly 10-14 %,
HINDALCO
dipped around 10 %, and Hindustan Copper plunged up to 19 % amid broad selling pressures across metals like zinc, aluminium, copper, gold and silver. The sharp rout reflects rising investor caution, weak base metal and precious metal pricing, and heightened market sensitivity to short-term supply and demand cues, leading to significant de-rating across the sector in the near term.
