Adani Ports Accelerates AI-Driven Transformation Across 15 Container Terminals
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone ($ADANIPORTS) has expanded its strategic partnership with Kaleris to deploy AI-powered operating and optimisation solutions across 15 container terminals located at nine domestic and international ports, extending an earlier implementation that covered six ports. As part of its long-term technology and decarbonisation strategy, APSEZ plans to invest $850 million by 2031, with up to $100 million allocated in two phases to enhance automation and operational efficiency through this collaboration. The deployment of Kaleris’ terminal operating system and AI-enabled container handling platform is expected to improve Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) crane productivity by up to 20% and terminal truck productivity by up to 14%. The initiative is also expected to support the creation of an additional 91 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo handling capacity by 2030, equivalent to nearly 10% of the company’s installed capacity. With a current cargo handling capacity of 653 million tonnes per annum and a market share of around 27% of India’s total port volumes, APSEZ is targeting cargo handling of one billion tonnes annually by 2030. The expanded use of artificial intelligence, IoT, computer vision and advanced optimisation tools highlights the company’s focus on improving operational efficiency, resource utilisation, cargo visibility and customer experience as global supply chains continue to evolve.
