Alembic Pharma Gets USFDA Nod for Key Neurology Drug in $71 Mn Market

APLLTD
has received final approval from the USFDA for its generic version of Carbamazepine extended-release tablets (100 mg, 200 mg, and 400 mg). This drug is prescribed as an anti-convulsant and for managing pain related to trigeminal neuralgia. The approved product is therapeutically equivalent to Novartis’ Tegretol-XR. With an estimated U.S. market size of $71 million for the 12 months ending March 2025, this marks a strategic addition to Alembic’s U.S. portfolio. The company now holds 225 ANDA approvals in total, including 202 final and 23 tentative approvals. While the approval strengthens Alembic’s presence in the U.S. neurology segment, future traction will hinge on timely market entry and the competitive landscape.
