Azad Engineering wins ₹52.68 crore BHEL contract

Azad Engineering Limited has secured a ₹52.68 crore rate contract from Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for gas turbine blades. The two-year agreement runs until October 9, 2028, covering critical stationary and rotating airfoils. The contract strengthens Azad Engineering’s position in domestic power generation equipment manufacturing. The order also supports BHEL’s efforts to source critical gas turbine components locally. However, this is a rate contract, so the disclosed value should not automatically be treated as immediate revenue or a confirmed order book addition without further details on supply schedules. The timing is relevant. Azad Engineering recently inaugurated two dedicated manufacturing facilities for GE Vernova’s Gas Power business in Hyderabad, each spanning 7,600 square metres. These facilities expand its manufacturing capacity for specialised turbine components and support its ambitions in the global power generation market. My view: The BHEL contract adds another customer relationship in the gas turbine segment, while the GE Vernova facilities provide a broader growth opportunity. The key factor is execution. I would track actual order inflows, capacity utilisation and revenue contribution from these facilities before assigning a higher valuation to the stock. The ₹52.68 crore contract is positive, but its impact will depend on the pace of deliveries and the value of future business secured. Goldman Sachs maintains a Buy rating with a ₹3,315 target, implying around 12% upside from the reported trading price of ₹2,966, rather than 22% from that price. My stance: Positive on the business outlook, but I would watch order conversion and earnings growth before taking a fresh position.
