Bajel Projects wins ₹200 crore Tata Power order
Bajel Projects Limited has secured a ₹200 crore EPC order from Tata Power Company Limited for 400 kV substations in Mumbai.
The project covers Dharavi and Ghatkopar, with completion scheduled within 18 months of the purchase order.
The contract includes engineering, procurement and construction of 400 kV gas-insulated receiving substations, along with electrical systems, automation, communication infrastructure, equipment and civil works. The order falls under the company's major order category.
For Bajel Projects, the contract adds to its power transmission and distribution business. Substation projects can provide revenue visibility over the execution period, but the actual benefit will depend on execution timelines, project costs and operating margins. The 18-month completion schedule means revenue recognition and cash flows will be spread across the project period rather than realised immediately.
My view is that the order is a positive business development, given the importance of reliable power transmission infrastructure in Mumbai. However, the ₹200 crore headline value alone does not establish how much the contract will contribute to profitability. I would watch the company's order inflows, execution progress and margins in upcoming results before drawing a stronger conclusion. Timely delivery and cost control will determine whether this order translates into meaningful earnings growth.
Bajel Projects shares closed at ₹155.50 on the NSE on October 26, up 1.32%. The next trigger is evidence of execution progress and margin performance in the coming quarterly results.
My stance: Positive on order inflow, but cautious until execution and profitability become clearer. This announcement alone is not a buy signal.
