and France’s Safran Electronics & Defence have signed a joint venture cooperation agreement to locally produce the HAMMER (Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range) precision-guided air-to-ground weapon in India, advancing Make in India and defense indigenisation goals.
The private limited JV will have equal 50:50 shareholding and target phased production transfer with Bharat Electronics leading final assembly, testing, and quality assurance.
Indigenisation is expected to progressively reach about 60%, including local manufacture of key sub-assemblies, electronics, and mechanical parts. The JV will address operational needs of the Indian Air Force and Navy, with compatibility for Rafale and LCA Tejas platforms highlighted in official updates.
