BHEL Secures ₹6,700 Crore Order to Power Telangana’s Energy Future
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has won a massive ₹6,700 crore contract from Singareni Collieries to set up an 800 MW thermal power unit in Telangana. The project, located in Mancherial district, will boost India’s energy security and support self-reliance.
BHEL, India’s leading power equipment manufacturer, will handle the project on an EPC basis, covering everything from design and manufacturing to installation and commissioning. This new unit will be built next to the existing 2x600 MW thermal power units, which BHEL successfully delivered in 2016.
With this deal, BHEL strengthens its footprint in Telangana, where it has already installed over 75% of the state’s coal-based power units. Nationally, the company has contributed more than 1,70,000 MW to India’s power capacity.
This win follows another big development—BHEL recently secured a letter of intent from Damodar Valley Corporation for the steam generator package of the 2x660 MW Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station in West Bengal.
Financially, BHEL’s Q3 results showed a 170% jump in net profit to ₹124 crore, with revenue up 32% YoY to ₹7,277 crore. While revenue exceeded expectations, net profit came in slightly below analyst estimates.
