Coal India Subsidiaries BCCL and CMPDI Set for IPOs in FY26

The government is preparing to list Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) and Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI), both subsidiaries of Coal India Ltd (CIL), in the second half of FY26, subject to market conditions. BCCL, which meets 50% of India’s coking coal demand, reported a ₹1,564.46 crore profit in FY24, more than double from the previous year, while CMPDI’s profit grew 70% YoY to ₹503.23 crore. The finance ministry has approved the IPOs, and BCCL is expected to list first, followed by CMPDI. The move aims to unlock value and strengthen India’s mining sector, with BCCL’s net worth at ₹5,355.47 crore and CMPDI’s at ₹1,591.61 crore as of March 2024.
