Daily Market Update - 20 June 2025
On June 19th, Indian markets closed mildly negative with Nifty 50 settling at ₹24,793.25 (-0.08%), Sensex at ₹81,361.87 (-0.10%), and Bank Nifty underperforming at ₹55,577.45 (-0.45%), while GIFT Nifty managed to stay flat at ₹24,793 (+0.02%). Volatility remained contained with India VIX at 14.25 (-0.07%).
Coming to the latest June 20th data, global indices showed resilience—Dow Jones inched up to $42,171.66 (+0.10%), Nasdaq Composite rose to $19,546.27 (+0.13%), though S&P 500 edged slightly lower to $5,980.87 (-0.03%). On the commodities front, prices weakened across the board—Brent Crude dropped sharply to $76.99 (-2.36%), WTI Crude at $73.70 (-0.24%), Gold stood at ₹99,385/10g (-0.15%), and Silver declined to ₹1,07,405/30kg (-1.07%), with Copper also down at $4.77 (-0.60%).
In currencies, INR saw mixed movement which is slipping against USD at ₹86.64 (-0.20%) and CNY at ₹12.06 (-0.13%), but gaining against the Euro at ₹100.02 (+0.19%). On the institutional activity side, FIIs were net buyers with ₹934.62 crore, though still net sellers MTD at ₹4,043.49 crore, while DIIs continued their bullish stance with ₹605.97 crore inflow and a strong ₹59,836.18 crore MTD.
