DCM Shriram Launches 35,000 TPA Sustainable ECH Plant in Gujarat

has commissioned its 35,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) Epichlorohydrin (ECH) plant at its Jhagadia chemical complex in Gujarat, marking a strategic step toward sustainable chemical manufacturing. Commissioned on October 14, 2025, the facility will add another 17,000 TPA capacity shortly, strengthening the company’s integration between its chlor-alkali and advanced materials segments. The plant leverages glycerine which is a by-product of biodiesel instead of fossil-based propylene as feedstock, supported by advanced European technology, leading to a lower carbon footprint. ECH is a critical raw material used in liquid epoxy resins for applications in coatings, adhesives, electronics, and composites. This commissioning underscores DCM Shriram’s focus on import substitution, operational efficiency, and alignment with India’s broader sustainability and self-reliance objectives in the chemical manufacturing space.
