DRREDDY
has introduced the first over-the-counter generic version of Pataday Extra Strength eye drops in the US, marking a notable expansion of its US consumer healthcare portfolio. The product, approved by the US FDA, is marketed as olopatadine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution USP 0.7%, indicated for short-term relief from allergy-related eye itchiness caused by triggers such as pollen and animal dander.
This launch builds on Dr Reddy’s existing US eye-care range, which already includes lower-strength olopatadine formulations at 0.1% and 0.2%, positioning the company across multiple price and strength segments in the allergy eye-care category. Management highlighted the move as a “first-to-market” store-brand equivalent opportunity, underscoring its capabilities in US generics and its strategy to deepen partnerships with major retail customers.
In a regulatory disclosure, the company reported that its Pataday-branded eye drops generated approximately $69.9 million in US sales in 2025.
