Emirates NBD to Acquire 60% Stake in RBL Bank Through ₹26,853 Crore Investment

In a major move for India’s banking sector, Emirates NBD, one of the largest financial institutions in the Middle East, is set to acquire up to a 60% stake in

RBLBANK
through a capital infusion of ₹26,853 crore at ₹280 per share. Once completed, Emirates NBD will take control as the bank’s new promoter, marking one of the largest foreign investments in Indian banking. To enable the issue of new shares, RBL Bank’s board has approved an increase in authorised capital from ₹1,000 crore to ₹1,800 crore. The deal, subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals—including from the RBI—will also adhere to the 24% cap on foreign ownership. Expected to take effect from April 1, 2026, this investment is poised to strengthen RBL Bank’s capital position, boost its lending capacity, and accelerate its long-term growth trajectory.
