GAIL and Cummins Join Forces to Power India's Green Energy Future
State-owned GAIL (India) Ltd has signed an MoU with Accelera by Cummins to accelerate India’s transition to clean energy. This collaboration, announced at India Energy Week 2025 in New Delhi, focuses on hydrogen production, blending, transportation, and storage by combining GAIL’s strong natural gas infrastructure with Accelera’s expertise in zero-emission technologies.
With GAIL advancing its "net zero" target from 2040 to 2035, this partnership marks a significant step in India's green energy journey. Cummins Inc. brings cutting-edge solutions in hydrogen, fuel cells, and electric power, strengthening efforts toward a sustainable future.
GAIL has already made strides in clean energy, commissioning a 10 MW Green Hydrogen plant in Madhya Pradesh last year, successfully blending hydrogen in CNG/PNG networks, and setting up a 5 TPD Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant in Ranchi. The company plans to expand its CBG footprint with 26 more plants across India and has also partnered with Coal India for Synthetic Natural Gas production in West Bengal.
