GAIL
has established a wholly owned subsidiary, GAIL Global IFSC Limited, at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), marking its strategic entry into global treasury operations and ship leasing. The new entity, incorporated on April 7, 2025, has an authorised share capital of ₹17 crore and a paid-up capital of ₹8.5 crore, with shares issued at a face value of ₹10 each. It will operate under the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) framework and is expected to strengthen GAIL’s financial capabilities beyond its core gas infrastructure business. The formation of this subsidiary was approved by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and received clearance from DIPAM on March 13, 2025.
On the financial front, GAIL reported a strong Q3FY25 performance with net profit rising 44.7% QoQ to ₹3,867.4 crore, surpassing estimates of ₹2,435 crore. Revenue also grew 6.2% to ₹34,937 crore, above the expected ₹33,476 crore. However, EBITDA declined by 24.2% QoQ to ₹2,837.8 crore, missing the forecast of ₹3,724 crore. While revenue and net profit growth were encouraging, the dip in operational margins highlights the need for efficiency improvements. The GIFT City expansion could play a pivotal role in GAIL’s diversification and long-term financial strategy.
