GLENMARK
innovation arm, IGI Therapeutics SA, has signed an exclusive global licensing agreement with AbbVie for its lead investigational asset, ISB 2001, a molecule developed using its proprietary BEAT® platform for oncology and autoimmune conditions. Under the deal, IGI will receive $700 million upfront and is eligible for up to $1.225 billion in milestone-based payments, along with tiered, double-digit royalties on net sales.
The agreement grants AbbVie rights across major markets including North America, Europe, Japan, and Greater China. With ISB 2001 still in Phase 1 trials and targeting the multiple myeloma segment which is expected to be a $50 billion market by 2030, this deal provides Glenmark a financial and strategic boost.
The management also indicated plans for a future IPO of IGI and confirmed that the unit is self-funded for the next three years. With its net debt at ₹400 crore before the deal, Glenmark may now look at rewarding shareholders, though long-term success depends on the molecule’s development and commercial viability.
