HDFC Bank Consolidated Quarter Results and Technical Outlook

HDFCBANK
reported a consolidated net profit of ₹17,090 crore in Q1 FY26, marking a strong 37.8% YoY growth from ₹12,401 crore in Q1 FY24, though down 11.4% sequentially from ₹19,285 crore in Q4 FY25. Revenue surged to ₹87,372 crore, up 70.8% YoY and 7.6% QoQ, powered by a significant jump in other income to ₹45,683 crore which is the highest in over three years. However, the financing profit turned sharply negative at -₹24,833 crore, deepening from -₹7,916 crore in the previous quarter, dragging financing margin to -28%. Asset quality saw mild stress, with gross NPA rising to 1.4% (from 1.33%) and net NPA to 0.47% (from 0.43%), while the bank prudently built ₹9,000 crore in floating provisions and ₹1,700 crore in contingency buffers. Business momentum remained steady with a 6.7% YoY rise in loans to ₹26.53 lakh crore and 16.4% YoY growth in deposits to ₹27.64 lakh crore, driven by a 20.6% jump in term deposits. For FY25, revenue stood at ₹3.36 lakh crore (vs. ₹2.83 lakh crore in FY24) and net profit rose to ₹73,440 crore (from ₹65,446 crore), with EPS improving to ₹92.51 and a ₹5 special dividend and 1:1 bonus issue declared. Technically, the stock closed at ₹1,957.40, facing stiff resistance near ₹2,025, forming a potential double top on the daily chart, while RSI at 43.9 signals weakening momentum. It's trading near critical support at the 70-day EMA of ₹1,941, below which it may correct toward ₹1,880. Weekly structure stays bullish, but only a close above ₹2,025 with volume confirmation can renew upward momentum. Until then, expect a range-bound phase with cautious bias.
