Hero MotoCorp unveils NEX concepts at EICMA 2026
Hero MotoCorp Limited showcased three NEX electric mobility concepts and expanded its VIDA brand into 10 European markets at EICMA 2026 in Milan.
The company presented the NEX 1 foldable electric vehicle, NEX 2 electric three-wheeler and NEX 3 two-seater electric micro-car. The NEX 2 targets a range of over 150 km and speeds above 100 km/h. The NEX 3 is designed for short urban commutes, although production plans remain unconfirmed.
VIDA also commenced European operations through distribution partner Elektrorider, introducing the DIRT.E K3 across 10 countries. The VX2 electric scooter and DIRT.E K3 will enter retail stores in six markets, with test rides scheduled from December 2026. The VX2 offers a claimed 140 km range and a top speed of 90 km/h.
Hero also unveiled the 421 cc Xpulse 450, producing 34.3 kW and 38 Nm, alongside the Harley-Davidson X350T and new premium motorcycle concepts.
In my view, the bigger development is Hero's attempt to build multiple growth opportunities beyond its traditional two-wheeler business. European expansion gives VIDA access to new markets, while the NEX concepts show the company's interest in urban mobility beyond conventional scooters. However, concept vehicles and market entry announcements should not be treated as immediate revenue opportunities. Commercial launches, sales volumes, distribution strength and unit economics will determine their actual contribution.
I will be watching for confirmed NEX production plans, VIDA's European sales traction from December 2026 and updates on the commercial launch of the Xpulse 450.
My stance is constructive on Hero's long-term product diversification, but execution and financial contribution remain the key factors to track.
