Hindustan Zinc Eyes Potash and Lithium Opportunity Amid Strong Financial Performance

HINDZINC
, a Vedanta Group company, is looking to expand beyond its core base metals into critical minerals, including potash mining in Rajasthan, a region that also shows potential for lithium reserves. The company, already declared the preferred bidder for the Dugocha gold block and a tungsten block, plans to participate aggressively in upcoming mineral auctions through its exploration arm, Hindmetal Exploration Services Pvt Ltd. Alongside this strategic shift, Hindustan Zinc reported robust consolidated March quarter results: revenue rose 20% YoY to ₹9,087 crore, net profit surged 47% YoY to ₹3,003 crore, and EBITDA grew 32% to ₹4,820 crore, pushing EBITDA margins up by 500 bps to 53%. The company has earmarked a growth capex of $225–$250 million for FY25, while extending CEO Arun Misra’s tenure by one year to steer this diversification and growth strategy forward.
