ISA & NTPC Join Hands for 1.53 GW Solar Push Across Africa

India’s NTPC Ltd. is set to sign tripartite agreements with seven African nations—under the International Solar Alliance (ISA)—to implement utility-scale solar projects totaling 1,530 MW. 🔹 Planned Projects by Country: - Guinea – 800 MW - Ethiopia – 400 MW - Malawi & Zambia – 100 MW each - Mali & Niger – 50 MW each - Mauritius – 30 MW (floating solar) 🔹 NTPC’s Role: As Project Management Consultant, NTPC will conduct feasibility studies, structure bid designs, and support developer selection. Custom business models may also be explored, especially for nations like Zambia. 🔹 Strategic & Trade Implications: India continues to export solar modules to Africa, while ISA looks to diversify away from China amid supply chain uncertainties.
