JSW Energy Accelerates Growth with Early Commissioning of 150 MW Hydropower Project
JSW Energy Ltd ($JSWENERGY) has strengthened its clean energy portfolio by commissioning the entire 150 MW Tidong hydropower project in Himachal Pradesh through its subsidiary, JSW Neo Energy Ltd, ahead of its earlier target of October 2026. With this addition, the company’s total installed power generation capacity has reached approximately 13,900 MW. The run-of-river project, located in Kinnaur district, has a long-term power purchase agreement for 75 MW with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd during the May–October period at a tariff of ₹5.57 per kWh, providing revenue visibility. The project is expected to contribute positively to earnings from FY27 and benefit from operational synergies due to its proximity to the Karcham Wangtoo project. In Q1 FY27 alone, JSW Energy has added 445 MW of capacity, including 225 MW of wind, 70 MW of solar and 150 MW of hydro power. Looking ahead, the company has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.1 GW, comprising 13.9 GW operational assets, 13.6 GW under construction and a development pipeline of 4.6 GW. It also holds 29.6 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity, including 26.4 GWh from pumped hydro storage and 3.2 GWh from battery energy storage systems. The company remains focused on achieving its long-term targets of 30 GW generation capacity and 40 GWh energy storage capacity by 2030, while aiming to become carbon neutral by 2050.
