Kalpataru Projects wins ₹4,000 crore UAE gas pipeline order

Kalpataru Projects International Limited has secured a major EPC order for a gas pipeline project in the UAE, with an estimated value exceeding ₹4,000 crore. The company received a Letter of Award on September 28 for engineering, procurement and construction work in its oil and gas business. Under its classification, orders exceeding ₹4,000 crore fall under the major category. This follows ₹2,025 crore in new orders and award notifications announced last week across power transmission and distribution, oil and gas, and buildings and factories. The latest contract adds to the company's international order pipeline and expands its exposure to energy infrastructure projects in the Middle East. However, the financial contribution will depend on project execution, timelines and margins. My view: The order value is significant, but the bigger factor to watch is execution quality. Kalpataru Projects reported June quarter revenue growth of 4% to ₹6,401.8 crore, while EBITDA increased 7% to ₹562 crore. EBITDA margin improved from 8.51% to 8.77%. This indicates better operating performance despite moderate revenue growth. The UAE contract could support future revenue visibility, but its impact on profitability will become clearer through subsequent quarterly results. Investors should track order inflows, execution progress, working capital requirements and margin trends. Shares traded at ₹1,378.60 on September 28, down 0.90% during the session, despite the order announcement. The stock remains up approximately 15% year to date. My stance: Watch whether the stock sustains its gains and whether upcoming results confirm margin improvement alongside order execution. The order win is positive for business visibility, but sustained financial performance remains the key trigger.
