L&T Divests Nabha Power to Torrent Power for ₹3,661 Crore

Larsen & Toubro's (

LT
) subsidiary, L&T Power Development Limited, has agreed to sell its entire stake in Nabha Power Limited (NPL) to Torrent Power Limited (
TORNTPOWER
) for ₹3,660.9 crore through a securities purchase agreement. This transaction, announced on February 16, 2026, represents a strategic monetization move by L&T to exit non-core development projects and bolster its primary operations. NPL operates a 1,400 MW supercritical coal-based thermal power plant in Rajpura, Punjab, commissioned in 2014 with a 25-year power purchase agreement and long-term fuel contracts. As of March 31, 2025, it generated ₹4,421.5 crore in revenue (1.73% of L&T's consolidated total) and held a net worth of ₹3,553 crore (3.64% of L&T's). The deal, expected to close by June 30, 2026, pending approvals, enables Torrent Power's entry into northern India's power market with a high-availability asset (95.36% in FY25).
