L&T secures Mumbai Metro Line 4 electrification order from MMRDA

Larsen & Toubro (

LT
) has received a Mumbai Metro contract from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) valued at up to ₹2,500 crore, which the company categorises as a “significant” order (₹1,000–₹2,500 crore band). The award relates to Package CA-298 for electrification works on the 24.72 km Metro Line 4 corridor running from Bhakti Park (Wadala) to Cadbury Junction, covering 22 elevated stations. The scope spans end-to-end delivery of the power supply and traction system design through testing and commissioning along with a SCADA system for Metro Lines 4 and 4A across 32 stations, depots and a receiving substation. It also includes electrical and mechanical works such as lifts and escalators for 22 stations and two depots, plus five years of comprehensive maintenance, to be executed by L&T’s in-house teams. Strategically, this is L&T’s third consecutive win on the Line 4/4A corridor, following earlier packages covering rolling stock and CBTC signalling/telecom/platform screen doors (Package CA-234) and 19.5 km of ballast-less track works across 15 stations (Package CA-168). The article also notes other recent order momentum: a hydrocarbon order in the ₹5,000–₹10,000 crore range from BPCL and buildings & factories orders in the ₹2,500–₹5,000 crore range from Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation.
