Mahindra BLAZO i-TRK Targets Growth Through Fuel Efficiency and Higher Uptime

Mahindra has launched the BLAZO i-TRK heavy commercial vehicle range in India, with a focus on improving fleet economics through fuel efficiency, uptime and connected technology. Powered by a 7.2-litre mPOWER engine delivering 320 hp and 1,100 Nm of torque, the truck offers up to 10% higher fuel efficiency, with the company estimating potential additional earnings of up to ₹15 lakh per truck over five years. Mahindra also highlighted a 6%–12% fuel-efficiency advantage over competing trucks, while efficiency has improved by up to 15% compared with the earlier BLAZO over the past year. The vehicle comes with a 48-hour uptime guarantee, including compensation of ₹10,000 per day for eligible customers if service restoration exceeds the committed period, along with mQSP service points within 75 km on national highways and 50 km on state highways. Its iMAXX 2.0 platform adds connected features such as vehicle diagnostics, driver monitoring and fleet analytics, while the Parts Supply Guarantee covers 250 critical components with a 24-hour delivery commitment. From a strategic perspective, Mahindra is targeting a 20% market share over the next five years. While the SML Mahindra merger is expected to close in FY27 following the July 29, 2026 board approval. On electric trucks, management indicated that a 500 km-range vehicle could require around 1 tonne of battery capacity, making payload economics an important consideration and suggesting that electrification is currently more suitable for shorter-distance applications. $M&M Disclaimer: This post is for informational purposes only and not a recommendation to buy or sell any securities.
