Metropolis Expands in North India with Acquisitions, Stock at Key Support Levels
METROPOLIS
is strengthening its presence in North India, a market led by Dr. Lal PathLabs. It recently acquired Agra-based Scientific Pathology for ₹55-83 crore (12.2x adjusted EBITDA) and Core Diagnostics (Delhi NCR) for ₹247 crore.
These moves will raise North India's revenue share from 8% to nearly 13%, tapping into the ₹2,000 crore UP diagnostics market. The company plans further expansion through acquisitions and a stronger collection centre network, expecting improved margins in 18-24 months.
Technically, METROPOLIS is currently in a strong downtrend on both the daily and hourly timeframes, as seen in the price consistently trading below key moving averages (100 MA, 70 EMA, and 9 EMA). The daily chart shows a breakdown from crucial support zones around 1706 and 1638 levels, with the next strong support seen at 1563–1500. The RSI on the daily is in the oversold zone (27.24), suggesting potential for a technical bounce, but the overall structure remains bearish.
The hourly chart shows short-term consolidation around the 1560–1580 zone, with RSI recovering slightly to 41.54, indicating minor buying interest. However, price rejection at the 9 EMA (around 1668) could reinforce downside momentum. A sustained move above 1638 could signal a short-term recovery, but failure to hold 1560 could accelerate selling towards 1500. The trend remains bearish unless price reclaims the 1706 resistance level decisively.
