NHPC Advances Solar Ambitions with 160.71 MW Now Operational at Karnisar

has taken another step forward in its renewable energy journey with the commercial commencement of the third phase (53.57 MW) of its 300 MW Karnisar Solar Power Project in Bikaner. This phase became operational on June 7, 2025, after completing successful trials on June 5. With this, the project’s total operational capacity has now reached 160.71 MW out of the planned 300 MW, reflecting steady execution. The development is significant as NHPC continues to diversify beyond hydropower and scale its solar footprint. Notably, in April 2025, the company announced its intent to raise up to ₹2,000 crore through private bond placement, likely to support such strategic expansions.
