Nifty 50 Analysis - March 18, 2025

On March 18, 2025, Indian equity markets witnessed strong bullish momentum, with the Nifty 50 gaining 325.55 points (+1.45%) to close higher, while the Sensex surged 1,131.31 points (+1.53%), reflecting broad-based buying interest. Despite the positive market movement, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) remained net sellers, offloading ₹4,488.45 crore in the cash segment on March 17, 2025, with gross purchases of ₹11,262.99 crore and gross sales of ₹15,751.44 crore. On the other hand, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) continued their strong buying streak, recording net purchases of ₹6,000.60 crore, with gross purchases of ₹12,726.10 crore and gross sales of ₹6,725.50 crore. For the month of March 2025 (MTD), FIIs have recorded a significant net outflow of ₹25,719.70 crore, with gross purchases of ₹1,06,353.78 crore and gross sales of ₹1,32,073.48 crore, indicating persistent selling pressure. In contrast, DIIs have absorbed this supply, recording a net inflow of ₹32,450.96 crore, supported by gross purchases of ₹1,24,732.91 crore and gross sales of ₹92,281.95 crore. The market's resilience amid heavy FII selling suggests strong domestic participation and robust institutional support from DIIs. Further price action will depend on FII positioning and global market cues. The top five gainers in the Nifty 50 today were
