Policybazaar Gets Hit with ₹5 Cr Penalty

IRDAI has imposed a ₹5 crore penalty on Policybazaar for regulatory lapses, raising short-term compliance concerns. Despite this,

POLICYBZR
, the parent company, posted a strong operational performance in Q1 FY26. Net profit rose 40% YoY to ₹84.5 crore, while revenue grew 33.5% to ₹1,348 crore. Insurance premium collection came in at ₹6,616 crore, up 36%, driven by robust 65% growth in new online health insurance. Core insurance revenue was up 37% YoY, although credit revenue declined 22%. Renewal income continues to be a key strength, touching ₹725 crore (up 43%), with insurance renewals running at ₹673 crore on an annualised basis, reflecting healthy customer stickiness. While the penalty is a regulatory overhang, the company’s fundamental business momentum remains intact and forward-looking.
