Power Grid Accelerates Grid Modernisation with ₹485 Crore Technology Upgrade and Global Funding Support
Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd ($POWERGRID) has approved a ₹485.04 crore project to modernise its SCADA and associated systems at the National Transmission Asset Management Centre (NTAMC) and Regional Transmission Asset Management Centres (RTAMCs), aiming to enhance the monitoring and management of India’s power transmission network. To strengthen its funding position, the company has also secured an unsecured term loan facility of JPY 80 billion from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and participating financial institutions. Additionally, the board approved the appointment of Anjana Luthra as Company Secretary and Compliance Officer with immediate effect, while Venkata S V will assume the role of Chief Financial Officer from July 1, 2026. On the financial front, Power Grid reported a strong Q4FY26 performance with consolidated net profit rising 9.7% year-on-year to ₹4,546.3 crore from ₹4,143 crore, surpassing market expectations of ₹4,451 crore. However, revenue from operations declined 5% to ₹11,666 crore from ₹12,275 crore and remained below the projected ₹12,859 crore. EBITDA stood at ₹9,066 crore, down 11.3% from ₹10,224 crore in the corresponding period last year. The company has also approved raising up to ₹5,000 crore through unsecured rupee term loans or credit facilities from its existing consortium of lenders. These developments highlight Power Grid’s continued focus on strengthening grid infrastructure, improving operational efficiency, and securing long-term funding for future growth.
