Power Grid Approves Major Funding and Security Initiatives
Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd's (
POWERGRID
) board approved borrowing ₹5,000 crore via an unsecured rupee term loan from Union Bank of India to support operational needs. This funding aligns with recent government enhancements raising the company's per-subsidiary equity investment cap from ₹5,000 crore to ₹7,500 crore.
The board also sanctioned ₹233.96 crore for a Centralized Security Operations Center (OT SOC) for substations, targeting completion within 24 months post-CERC approval. Additional moves include in-principle divestment of its full stake in Central Transmission Utility of India Ltd (CTUIL) to GRID-INDIA and a framework pact with Africa50 and Uganda Development Bank for a Uganda transmission project under the IPT model.
