Power Grid Wins Key Transmission Project in UP & MP

POWERGRID
has secured a major inter-state transmission project in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh under tariff-based competitive bidding, with the Letter of Intent received on September 16. The project includes setting up a new 765 kV sub-station at Prayagraj along with 765 kV transmission lines across both states, aimed at strengthening the inter-regional grid and easing pressure on the Vindhyachal–Varanasi line. On the financial side, Q1FY25 performance came below expectations—net profit rose 7.1% YoY to ₹3,653 crore versus an estimate of ₹3,784 crore, while revenue slipped 1.4% to ₹9,928 crore compared to projections of ₹11,147 crore. EBITDA declined 7.2% to ₹8,117 crore, with margins narrowing to 81.76% from 86.85% last year. Segment-wise, transmission revenue remained stable at ₹10,695 crore, consultancy revenue more than doubled to ₹405.9 crore, and telecom revenue grew 18% to ₹289.5 crore.
