RVNL Adds ₹903 Crore Order to Its Railway Pipeline
Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) has secured a ₹903 crore Letter of Award (including GST) from SJVN Thermal Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN Ltd., for infrastructure work linked to the 1,320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project in Bihar. The 36-month contract involves construction of a permanent railway siding and an aerial track connection from the plant boundary to Chausa and Pawani Kamarpur at Buxar under Phase III.
The order is from a domestic entity, is part of RVNL’s normal business activity and is not a related-party transaction, with no interest held by the promoter, promoter group or group companies in SJVN Thermal. Separately, on September 3, RVNL emerged as the L1 bidder for another ₹404.88 crore project, including GST, from East Coast Railway.
The project covers civil and railway infrastructure works for a third railway line across the 385 km Nergundi–Barang (22 km) and Khurda Road–Vizianagaram (363 km) stretches, including roadbed and bridge construction, track laying, ballast supply, buildings, road underbridges, utility shifting, signalling and telecom, electrification, power supply and modification of high- and low-tension lines.
While the ₹903 crore award provides a confirmed order, the ₹404.88 crore L1 position remains subject to the final Letter of Acceptance, making the two developments distinct in terms of execution certainty.
