RVNL named lowest bidder for ₹201.23 crore East Coast Railway workshop project

Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (

RVNL
) has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for an East Coast Railway project to set up a wagon Periodical Overhaul (POH) workshop at Kantabanji, with designed capacity to handle 200 wagons. The estimated project cost is ₹201.23 crore excluding GST, and RVNL was awarded the contract as the sole bidder, with an 18-month completion timeline. The development adds to RVNL’s recent railway-electrification-related order flow: earlier in December, the company disclosed receipt of a Letter of Acceptance from Southern Railway for a traction power project valued at ₹145.35 crore. That scope includes design, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of traction substations and associated systems (including a 2×25 kV feeding system, SCADA, and automatic fault locator) for the Jolarpettai–Salem section, to be executed over 540 days, and positioned as part of Indian Railways’ freight-loading “Mission 3000 MT” effort.
