SYNGENE
has extended its long-standing research and development partnership with Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) until 2035, reinforcing a relationship that began in 1998 and has matured into a fully integrated R&D platform for the global biopharma major.
The agreement broadens Syngene’s role across the drug development value chain, covering discovery and translational sciences, pharmaceutical development, manufacturing, clinical trials support, and data and IT services, with the explicit goal of smoothing the path from early research to commercialisation.
The Biocon Bristol Myers Squibb Research and Development Center (BBRC) in Bengaluru, commissioned in 2009, now operates as a major strategic hub for BMS, hosting about 700 Syngene scientists who function as an extension of BMS’s global research organisation.
These teams contribute to target identification, lead optimisation, preclinical development, and patent filings across key therapeutic areas including cardiovascular disease, fibrosis, immunology, and oncology, helping compress timelines and lower development costs for BMS.
