Tata Motors Gears Up for Premium EV Disruption with Avinya

Tata Motors is set to strengthen its leadership in India's EV market with the upcoming Avinya SUV, expected to be priced at ₹25 lakh. Built on Tata’s Gen 3 EV architecture, the five-seater electric SUV will offer ultra-fast charging and a 500 km range in under 30 minutes. Positioned as a direct competitor to Tesla’s Model 3, which is expected to be priced above ₹30 lakh, Avinya targets India’s growing demand for premium EVs. Meanwhile, Tesla is preparing to enter India by April 2025, initially importing vehicles from its Berlin Gigafactory, amid potential duty concessions under discussion. Avinya’s high structural safety, advanced waterproofing, and dust protection make it well-suited for Indian conditions. The model is part of Tata’s long-term strategy, with reports indicating a potential merger of its EV subsidiary with the passenger vehicle (PV) division post the ongoing demerger. As India’s largest passenger EV manufacturer, Tata Motors continues to expand its EV portfolio, aiming to capture a larger share of the premium electric mobility segment.
