TATASTEEL
has formally approved acquiring a 50.01% stake in Odisha-based Thriveni Pellets Pvt Ltd (TPPL) for up to ₹636 crore, a deal aimed at reinforcing its raw-material supply chain in India. TPPL owns 100% of Brahmani River Pellets Ltd (BRPL), which runs a 4 million-tonne-per-annum pellet plant in Jajpur, Odisha, along with a 212-km slurry pipeline, ensuring seamless iron-ore pellet availability. With existing iron-ore reserves near its production hubs, this acquisition brings raw-material security, operational synergies and strengthens Tata Steel’s downstream readiness. The board believes this move, once regulatory clearances are secured, will underpin the company’s long-term growth strategy without imposing bias positioning Tata Steel to better manage costs and supply-chain volatility.
