Under this collaboration, ABB will support design, manufacture, supply, testing, installation supervision and commissioning of metro propulsion systems and will transfer technology for Train Control and Monitoring Systems (TCMS) tailored for driverless operations, while a phased transfer of manufacturing and co-production of critical components like converters and traction motors will be enabled to boost domestic capability. The pact builds on their earlier alliance and complements Titagarh’s existing contract to supply 240 coaches for Mumbai Metro Lines 5 and 6, reinforcing its position as an integrated rolling-stock manufacturer and enhancing India’s self-reliance in high-value rail technologies.
